The Northern Chamber Orchestra return to Beverely with young clarinettist, Mark Simpson, the only person ever to have won BBC Young Musician of the Year and the BBC Proms Guardian Young Composer of the Year. Mark is the soloist in Finzi's 'Clarinet Concerto', the composter's mmost widely performed and recorded orchestral work, which brings up images of the English countryside. Alongside this is Barber's 'Adagio for Strings', which was made famous in the film 'Platoon', a wonderfully haunting piece of music. The concert begins and finishes with symphonies by Haydn and Mozart - all in all, a delightful and varied programme. (Haydn Symphony no 22 in E minor 'Lamentation' Finzi Clarinet Concerto Barber Adagio for strings Mozart Symphony no 29 in A)
